Food, Fun, Family, Friends & Fur
Not necessarily in that order. But where I will continue and regularly talk about all that goes on in the life of Mr Mom, my humorous stories about my husband, family and travels to the serious topics of my work and passions to the getting old part of my life, and what that means for an old queen like myself.
Rosanne Rosanne Rosanne…….
Well If it is publicity you wanted you certainly have achieved that. I just don’t understand though. We, elect leaders who have said so so so so SO much worse, there are leaders in the world running countries that have given the OK to murder hundreds, thousands and tens of thousands of people and they continue to be where they are.
Listen I am no fan of Rosanne Barrs either way. In the early years, I did have an admiration? for her, I suppose as her starting from nothing and working her way up and being considered successful.
What I don’t understand though is the personal attacks on looks or color or whatever that is.. I understand making statements and being political, totally. Trump’s behaviors is one thing, although apparently, she supported him so not so sure he would be a target for her either way.
What I loved about the first time around, was that the show addressed a lot of “taboo’ issues in the day. With the reboot, they seemed to be current and seemingly were going to address current day issues, with today’s twist.
It is unfortunate that she pushed and crossed the line yet again. But isn’t that what comedians are supposed to do. Is it that we could not continue to forget all the pushing and crossing of the lines she had done or had over the years. The infamous crotch grab as she sang the national anthem, again great headlines but not necessarily in the way she may have wanted.
There was the whole mudslinging divorce from Tom Arnold(no prize in the art of political correctness either) that seemed to get her into hot water as well, where ironically he came out of that seemingly unscathed..
What I don’t also get is where the heck is her PR team. I get wanting to generate publicity, especially for a new show. You want to keep the momentum up, to keep the light shining on what you are trying to achieve.
I am not sure though if indeed she will be able to recover from this. She is at an age that she may not have time to recover before the next project comes along.
Although we have seen several attempts over the years to reboot her into mainstream, there was the talk show..as bizarre as it was to the series about her farm in Hawaii, again although what she is living seemed so unrealistic to the viewer. It seemed more like a summer cottage than her home.
It bothers me still though we hold her so accountable yet many other people have done far worse things and continue to go unscathed. I get it, it was wrong and inappropriate, totally 100%, yet there seems to be a double standard for woman or not ???? what do you think?
I was having a conversation with a friend the other day as to what acting will soon come to. What will the sex scenes, the violent scenes all look like in this age of sensitivity. Where in all of this do we account for “context”, where people take part in these events, conversations, and situations, then claim to be the victim when they see an opportunity or want to become a victim without addressing their role in everything.
In NO WAY I am discounting what people are saying about anyone to include Rosanne, IN NO WAY am I saying that they should not be held accountable to what they say an do.
In this particular situation, this was a personal attack, unacceptable in every way.
We have got to get to a place where we come from a place of love and understanding. A place where we hold each other with a respect and not wanting to tear each other down. Not sure if that will ever happen as there will always be those that can move forward and those that wait for the next pounce.
There are those that believe the wrong things they do are acceptable and justified, while holding others accountable to the things they have done, forgetting the context part.
Rosanne you were on a roll again, your show a huge success from all media accounts, sometimes you need to let your comedic side rest. You need to realize that you carry on your shoulders the lives of many(your cast and crew, and their families). Although the show certainly bares your name, it was made successful through the names of many. All in context…
I hope that you rise again and this isn’t your finale in life. But I also hope that you learn from this and that you can grow.
