Food, Fun, Family, Friends & Fur
Not necessarily in that order. But where I will continue and regularly talk about all that goes on in the life of Mr Mom, my humorous stories about my husband, family and travels to the serious topics of my work and passions to the getting old part of my life, and what that means for an old queen like myself.
Very few times in a lifetime will someone come along, where you just click. Where you just feel at home. Not always do you get each other but you just feel at home. I have been so blessed to have a few of those in my life.
I met this very odd duck while both of us served on a national board together. We both have pretty good senses of humor, hers a little dryer, mine a little raunchier. At the first meeting I didn’t realize what would soon blossom.
For some reason, she called me bubu right from the start, not sure why, but really I don’t try and figure her out. I called her my wife, she did not like that at all. Probably because she was so caught off by my gorgeous good looks and she was intimidated, LOL I don’t know.
I then tried to call her muffin and that was halted faster than a fat kid dropping his smarty in a bowl of salad. So I really don’t have a nickname for her at the moment. What I do have though is a huge amount of respect for this lady, and all that she is.
I could go on and on about her, which I am sure I will over time, but today let’s stick with the original story.
So in our earlier conversations, what I found out is she does graphic design. Well, that is not all she does, as she is a multimedia artist. From painting to jewelry to design to clay, all which I am a benefactor of her beautiful work.
Somewhere in that conversation, she said that she could help me with a project that I had literally been working on for over 2 decades, ok not full time….. I had multiple people helping me from paid employees to making people partners …to people pursuing us. All which had fallen through. I had explained how we had really just given up, decided that it was not meant to be.
What I did not realize is this was one of those situations that just solidified my belief, that when the time is meant to be it will be…..
This is one of those times. It is meant to be. So once she understood somewhat how my head works and how really scary it is inside, she decided to jump on the bandwagon. She decided to be an equal partner on the several projects. So here we are today almost…
With one project complete and several more to be finished by the end of the year, it is clear that we are both motivated. I love her because she challenges me and pushes me. I like to think that she is never insulted when I do not like one of her ideas, even though most of them are brilliant.
I like her down to earthiness, her ability to keep calm.
Things went relatively smooth for the first leg of our projects, although the timing for the others has been slow, just because we were getting it all consistent and building a plan around the biggest project.
As many of you know, my mind doesn’t stop, it goes all night long, and once we had decided on our company name for our projects, it opened up the door to the possibilities to so much more.
With that, and on the edge of introducing our new projects, I introduce to you our new company name.
You will soon be seen products from:
The House of Bubu an Da wolf
I hope you love them and maybe buy them, products that is. They have been a long time coming and we are excited to introduce them to you tomorrow.
Thank you Chris Dewolf for believing in the project and me, and for jumping on the “Russell Train”.
We will also feature many of Chris’ products on our website if you would like to commission anything or buy what she has already made.
Buying a home. I thought that I would talk about friends of mine who own their own company. Beni and Nicole Bennett have owned Northwood Home Inspections for the past 20 years. This family-owned business has a background in construction renovation. Members of the Cloverdale Chamber of Commerce, they are community focused. They consistently raise money for local charities to include Autism Speaks, Children’s Hospital, Diabetes Association, Parkinson’s Association, Canadian Mental Health Association and the Celiac Association to name a few.
As you will see there are so many more services that their company can offer, if ever in need of a residential or commercial inspection you should give them a call. Water testing, air quality, asbestos testing, mold testing, roofing specialists are just some of the other services they do.
I am honored to call these family friends, check out their site.
As I often say, no one can sell your business like you can so…with that I have linked you to their website.
What is Good Friday anyway? What does it mean? Do any of us look at it as religious significance any more or is it just the beginning of a holiday and a time to spend with our families.
For those that believe that it is just in time for the Easter Bunny and all that candy, there is a deeper, I mean much deeper meaning to this day. For Christians around the world, this is the day Christ was crucified on the cross in Calvary.
Although, I understand that Christ gave his life for man’s sins and that I do consider myself a spiritual Christian, I look at all religious holidays with a deeper meaning for me and my family.
I never want to take away what holidays and traditions mean to you and your families, nor do I impose my way of thinking onto you the reader. I am hoping though, that like me you are of open mind and, like me enjoy how others think and express themselves.
With that in mind, I embark on my thoughts on the Easter Holidays. I did grow up attending church, not on a regular basis but for the most part at the same small country church.
My grandmother insisted that we went, and we were sent with others as she herself seldom went. I remember many things about the church. I remember the beautiful music always sang, the organ played. I do remember going into the children classes to learn our “bible studies”.
For the most part, going to church was a great time. The people were wonderful to us and pleasant. However, even though we were young, we noticed those that always makes me now wonder how they called themselves Christians. Things that were done and said in the name of Christianity.
What I took away from that church was that there were good things and people in the world and then not so much. I took away a sense of coming together and community. I took away a sense of family and commitment and the benefits of having them.
Although the religious piece has always stuck with me and the stories surrounding the holidays, it was what was demonstrated to me as a kid.
So for me, Good Friday and the Easter Sunday is not only about the story of Christ and what he sacrificed for all of us. More importantly, it’s the message that came with that at my little church, one of how blessed we really are in life.
If you read my articles regularly(as you should be), you will often read how truly blessed I feel I am. It’s the truth, I have some amazing friends, some well-known others not, I have a wonderful family, some I like to know others not so much (ok I am kidding, but its funny LOL). I have met some wonderful people in my life, some, that a little boy from Eckville Alberta, could never have imagined I would have met.
Good Friday is all that and so much more. The Easter Holiday is about knowing what I have and what others do not, it is about knowing that to deserve so much you must give so much. It is about sacrifice in our own lives for others because we can.
The Easter holiday is about good food and candy and all that comes with that as well. It is about knowing who your friends are and how important relationships are. Having a coffee, a drink or meal with special people, it is about welcoming in new and old friends alike. It’s about telling people you love them and knowing they love you back.
I get those Christians that the holiday should be about Christ and his sacrifice for us. I would like to pretend I would know what his message would be today, that I am not sure. But for me, this is how I read what Easter weekend means.
Whatever your plans are this weekend, be kind, be giving and love. Happy Easter, and on the bunny note, I hope he poops lots of eggs all over the place for you….
Enjoy your friends, family, and loved ones (just in case they aren’t the same)
